About Me - Yvonne Bauer - Raku pottery artist

As a Raku pottery artist, I have always been fascinated by the art and design techniques used to create, hence Attainable Art was formed in 2000.  I enjoy the rhythm of a potters life where the work never stops. Each piece is individually created and goes out into the lives of those who choose it. I am deeply grateful to those that share in my passion.

I capture whimsical gesture and movement of each piece of clay art and design by using the method of hand-building. I further enhance each piece's personality of warmth and spirit by hand painting glazes that create iridescent colour and brilliant reflection occurrences from the Raku firing process.

I  enjoy  using  clay  and  Raku  glazes  for  the  unpredictable resulting  colors.  Raku (Japanese meaning "freedom of enjoyment") is a process in which work is removed from the kiln at bright red heat and subjected to post-firing reduction (or smoking) by being placed in containers of combustible materials, which blackens raw clay and causes crackle of the glaze surface.
